Community-based organization serving persons with developmental disabilities and mental retardation. Member of MALC and affiliated with ProLiteracy America.

Services Offered: One-on-one and small group instruction in basic literacy and computer skills.

Communities served: Bernalillo County.


Bernalillo County Family Literacy Program

Volunteer literacy program; family and youth support.

Services Offered: A free, community based, one-on-one tutoring program which utilizes volunteer tutors to work with students between the ages of six and fourteen. Students work with tutors for two hours a week on improving their word recognition, reading comprehension, spelling, writing, and computer skills.

Communities served: East Mountain Area, Paradise Hills, and North & South Valley.

Community-based organization.

Services offered: Free literacy and adult education classes. Classes include: English as a Second Language, Spanish and English GED, Citizenship, ESL/Basic computer skills training, and Transitions to Higher Education. One-on-one tutoring is available (first served: students who are participating in classes.)

Communities served (special populations): Low-income Bernalillo County residents, refugee, and immigrant populations.

SER is a community-based organization whose mission is to link organizations and resources together to strengthen the fight against poverty and encourage family self-sufficiency throughout New Mexico. Our main areas of service are Educational and Employment training.

Services offered: GED preparation, including classes and one-on-one tutoring, Adult Basic Education, Southwest Employment and Training Program for youth ages 16-24, and youth mentor programs.

Communities served: Albuquerque metropolitan area.
